Tribal Government: County Intergovernmental Agreements - Presented by Kerry Patterson

Panelists will discuss the role of County MOUs in implementing environmental mitigation measures and in coordinating public safety and fire and emergency response. Panelists will discuss incentives and advantages to entering into agreements as well as the difficulties that can arise when a County seeks revenue not commensurate with mitigation measures or refuses to enter an agreement in an effort to block a development on tribal lands. Lastly, panelists will share dispute resolution experiences with arbitrations, questions about the enforceability of arbitration provisions and other possible alternatives.
