If you are still asking, “Do we have to?” the answer is a resounding “Yes!” More than ever before, job descriptions provide important protections to employers dealing with Family and Medical Leave Act requirements, Americans with Disabilities Act defenses, protections for religious organizations, and Civil Rights claims. As always, job descriptions are still critical when managing return-to-work issues, compensation questions, and good communication during the hiring process. In addition, religious organizations need to use the job description to clarify any belief or behavior requirements on and off the job.
But how can employers manage all these requirements while still keeping the job description easy to review and update? Joan Rennekamp, our Client HR Consultant, will share some basic components of good job descriptions. In addition, if you have a job description format or procedure that you believe has been helpful, bring it along to share with the group.
