Hilary Wells, CIPP/US and John Gray, CIPP/US will discuss the ethical considerations and implications for businesses and their counsel in deciding whether to pay a ransomware demand.

In 2020, law enforcement and cybersecurity professionals have seen a drastic increase in the number and sophistication of ransomware attacks. Hackers are now using a multi-pronged approach to ransomware, and victims are faced with numerous legal and ethical questions in responding to such attacks.

This presentation will address many of those questions and evaluate various scenarios that could arise in connection with a ransomware attack.
