Lewis Roca Rothgerber is pleased to welcome Zachary Gordon, Malani “Dale” Kotchka-Alanes, Abraham Smith, and Nicole True as new associates in our Las Vegas office.
Zac Gordon is an associate in the firm’s Gaming and Business Transaction groups. His gaming practice focuses on commercial and interactive gaming issues. In addition, he helps clients with a variety of general business matters related to contracts and corporate structure. Before joining the firm, Gordon served as an extern to the Honorable Lloyd D. George at the U.S. District Court in Nevada. Gordon earned his J.D., cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame Law School. He also holds a B.S. in biology and chemistry from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, Ca., where he was a Presidential Merit Scholar.
Dale Kotchka-Alanes is an associate in the firm’s Litigation group. Her experience includes drafting pleadings, briefs and other legal documents, conducting legal research, and assisting with discovery. Before joining the firm, Kotchka-Alanes clerked for the Honorable Susan R. Bolton, U.S. District Court Judge. While attending Yale Law School, she worked with the Worker and Immigrant Rights Advocacy Clinic. She has also served as a legal intern with the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia at The Hague. Kotchka-Alanes earned her J.D. at Yale Law School. She also holds a B.A., summa cum laude, in Spanish, philosophy and political science from Loyola Marymount University.
Abraham Smith is an associate in the firm’s Litigation group. His experience includes drafting appellate briefs and other documents, conducting research, and preparing legal arguments and analysis. Before joining the firm, Smith served as a legal intern for the U.S. Department of State in the Office of the Legal Adviser in Washington, D.C. Smith earned his J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Duke University Law School. He also holds a LL.M., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, in international and comparative law from Duke University Law School, and a B.M., with High Distinction and with Honors, from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.
Nicole True is an associate in the firm’s Litigation group. Before joining the firm, she clerked for the Honorable Thomas D. Waterman at the Iowa Supreme Court where her experience included conducting research and drafting memos and judicial opinions. Before becoming a lawyer, True spent two years working as a legal assistant at a law firm in Iowa. She assisted the firm’s lawyers in defending the state against tobacco companies’ claims to recover $150 million in payments made to the state under a multi-state settlement agreement. True earned her J.D., with High Distinction and Order of the Coif, from the University of Iowa College of Law. She also holds a B.S. in psychology from the University of Iowa.
