Lewis Roca Rothgerber LLP is proud to announce that Aaron D. Arnson, Rachel A. Nicholas, Amanda L. Thatcher and Andrew Vanell have joined the firm’s Phoenix office as associates.
Arnson practices in the firm’s litigation practice group and focuses on labor and employment matters. Prior to joining Lewis Roca Rothgerber, Arnson served as a law clerk to the Honorable Ann A. Scott Timmer at the Arizona Supreme Court. Previously, he was the director of communications for a nonprofit in the Salt Lake City area. While in law school, Arnson served as an executive editor for the BYU Law Review and as a judicial extern for the Honorable David Sam at the United States District Court for the District of Utah. He holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from Brigham Young University J. Reuben Clark Law School and a B.S. in marketing from Brigham Young University.
Nicholas is an associate in the firm’s intellectual property practice group, focusing on copyright and trademark law. Her experience includes assisting with contractual matters and working on licensing agreements. Before joining the firm, Nicholas worked as a legal intern for Phoenix Children’s Hospital. While in law school, Nicholas served as an intern for JDA Software Group, where she reviewed contracts and worked on a variety of corporate legal issues. She was also the symposium editor for the Arizona State Law Journal and a Willard H. Pedrick Scholar. She holds a J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University and a B.A. in Psychology, summa cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University.
Thatcher also practices in Lewis Roca Rothgerber’s litigation practice group. Before joining the firm, Thatcher was a law clerk for the Honorable Patricia K. Norris at the Arizona Court of Appeals. While in law school, Thatcher served as an extern for the Honorable Jonathan B. Sutin at the New Mexico Court of Appeals. She was the manuscript editor for the New Mexico Law Review and was presented with the Corporate and Business Law Excellence Award and Honors in Clinical Law Award in 2013. Thatcher holds a J.D., magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from the University of New Mexico School of Law, an M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico and a B.A. in business administration from California State University, Fullerton.
Vanell practices in the firm’s business transactions group and is focused on real estate, sales and acquisitions and commercial lending. He also has extensive experience in the banking industry, developing and implementing training programs focused on consumer and small business lending. Prior to joining the firm, Vanell served as a clerk to Justice Ann A. Scott Timmer at the Arizona Supreme Court. While in law school, he was a member of the Arizona Law Review and held a clerkship with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office working in the Consumer Protection & Advocacy Section. He also interned for Southern Arizona Legal Aid, providing advocacy for mortgage clients. Vanell holds a J.D., summa cum laude, from the University of Arizona James E. Rogers College of Law and a B.S. from Arizona State University.
