A History of Growth
Our roots in “The Old Pueblo” are strong and deep; we have grown since the establishment of our Tucson office in 1988. By the mid-1990s the office had expanded to a dozen lawyers, and today we have a multi-disciplinary team of 16 lawyers to serve you.
With Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie’s Tucson team, your business receives guidance and counsel from experienced lawyers with local knowledge and contacts that you expect from a leading regional law firm. More than half of our lawyers are listed in The Best Lawyers in America®, the oldest and most respected peer-review publication in the legal profession that includes just two percent of the nation’s legal professionals. In addition, several Tucson attorneys are listed in the most recent edition of Chambers, a ranking of the leading legal firms and lawyers in America.
Our Real Estate Practice
In Tucson, we have a well-known and respected real estate practice. We represent clients in all types of real estate transactions for all types of properties, including purchases and sales, leases, financings and all aspects of land development. Our real estate team has experience in land use, zoning and water rights issues. Developers, owners, lenders and public entities alike rely on Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie’s Tucson lawyers to resolve land use and environmental concerns that have direct impacts on development. Any real estate project where there is not existing water service to the property, or where access to water rights is in question, will benefit from our experience with state and local water use regulation. We are general counsel to the Metropolitan Domestic Water Improvement District, a water utility serving 75,000 people residing north of Tucson, Arizona. We were instrumental in forming the district, which today is the only water utility in Arizona that recharges its aquifer with ground water.
Our Business Practice
The lawyers of Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie’s Tucson office are known for their experience in advising a broad range of corporate clients in connection with tax matters, their mergers and acquisitions, complex joint ventures, securities offerings and financing needs. Prominent areas of practice include all aspects of health care law (including the representation of the region’s three major hospital systems).
Our Intellectual Property Practice
Identifying, securing and protecting intellectual property rights - patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets and publicity rights - is essential to the well-being of a company. Intellectual properties are valuable assets that add to the health of a company’s balance sheet and provide new avenues for growth and revenue.
Our IP lawyers work with individuals, organizations, and corporations located in the Southwest, in the United States and throughout the world to develop and protect intellectual property rights here and abroad. Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie offers clients a full range of intellectual property representation. We successfully and cost-effectively guide our clients through the complex issues encountered in this area, enabling them to obtain and keep a competitive advantage.
Our Litigation Practice
Our litigation lawyers represent clients in a broad array of business and real estate matters, unified by a few basic principles.
First, we are experts at solving problems and resolving disputes in all settings, from trials and litigation in state or federal court, to arbitration, mediation or negotiation.
Second, we think through each case at the beginning of the representation so we have a clear vision of how it can be won at trial. Our goal is to develop a cohesive, compelling position which will ring true to the ultimate decision maker, whether it is a judge or jury.
Third, we are pragmatists who understand both the business goals of our clients and the best ways to advance them in the dispute resolution process. If settlement is in our client's interest, we will recommend settlement. If a case should go to trial, we will try it. In every case, we help our clients evaluate the costs, benefits and risks of litigation.
Reflecting our role as a legal community leader, Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie actively encourages our lawyers and staff to act as a community service leader by helping not-for-profit organizations, pro bono programs and programs that enrich the lives of people in the Tucson area. We are committed to furnishing the opportunities for service and believe this kind of leadership is the right thing to do. It serves the common good where we live and practice, and it’s in the best tradition of the law. Lawyers in our office maintain an active pro bono practice that includes participation in the Volunteer Lawyers Program’s clinics and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals’ Pro Bono Project, as well as specialized projects such as the Fresh Start For Women Foundation.
