Press Release
09/27/2017

LAS VEGAS – Officers of the American Bar Association Business Law Section have appointed Karl Rutledge of Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP to a three-year term as chair of the Section’s Gaming Law Committee.

The appointment became effective upon conclusion of the Business Law Section’s annual meeting in September. Rutledge, a partner in the firm’s Las Vegas office, previously served as the Committee’s Director of Programs and interim chair.

“As the gaming industry grows it’s important to work with our colleagues in other areas of the business world to improve each others’ understanding of our impact on the country’s economy,” said Rutledge. “I’m honored that the section officers endorsed my continued involvement in leadership of the Gaming Law Committee.”

Rutledge’s gaming business experience includes working with established and emerging Internet gaming companies on risk analysis and creative business structuring, advising companies that run sweepstakes and contests, advocating on their behalf with governmental agencies, and drafting website privacy policies and terms and conditions of use for companies.

He is a frequent speaker and author on gaming-related topics, with emphasis on Internet gaming, sweepstakes and promotions. He also teaches a course on Gaming Industry Regulation in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
