Lewis Roca Rothgerber is pleased to announce that Edgar Barraza has been selected as the recipient of the firm’s 2014 Michael D. Nosler Scholarship.
The firm established the scholarship in 2006 to honor and recognize past managing partner, Michael D. Nosler, who demonstrated an unwavering commitment to diversity in the legal profession and supported the firm in its commitment to making the legal profession more diverse, inclusive, and reflective of the communities in which we live and work.
The Michael D. Nosler Scholarship is awarded annually to a talented and diverse second-year law student from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law or the University of Colorado School of Law. Additionally, the scholarship program provides a unique learning experience that develops and enhances the recipient’s legal writing skills and provides exposure to the private law firm environment and the real-world practice of law.
Barraza, a second-year law student at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, will complete a paid clerkship in the firm’s Denver office this semester; and upon completing the clerkship, he will receive the scholarship to help pay for his third year of law school. In addition, Barraza is currently interning with the Honorable Jerry Jones at the Colorado Court of Appeals.
Barraza earned his B.A. from the University of Denver in 2010 and double majored in International Studies and Political Science. He currently volunteers as a member of Judge Arguello’s Dream Team, where he travels throughout the state to speak with disadvantaged youth about careers in law and the importance of staying in school.
