Elie Gendloff, PhD is Of Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. He is a patent attorney, scientist, agriculturalist and entrepreneur with 20 years of legal experience in-house and in law firms for small, medium and large corporations, individuals, universities and non-profits. 

He is experienced in preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications in multiple technologies including biotechnology, clinical diagnostics, organic and medicinal chemistry, pharmaceuticals, protein and nucleic acid therapeutics, biochemistry, molecular biology, medical devices, immunochemistry, stem cells, signal transduction, tissue engineering, biochemical reagents, immunology, virology, oncology, neuroscience, genetics, microbiology, infectious disease, agricultural biotechnology and consumer goods. 

Additionally, he advises clients on evaluation of inventions for patentability, freedom to operate, validity, infringement, design around possibilities and strategic value, and preparation of opinions for same; patent searching and evaluation of patent landscapes. 

Elie also provides client counseling including due diligence, patent acquisition strategic development, evaluation of patent portfolio, and contract and litigation strategies. He also provides preparation, negotiation and evaluation of contracts including patent licensing, nondisclosure, material transfer, technology transfer, collaboration, research, CRADA, distributor, marketing, supply and software agreements. 

His background also includes work as a research scientist with experience in biochemistry, genetics, and molecular biology of mycotoxin biosynthesis, regulation and degradation; molecular and quantitative genetic analysis; and immunochemical detection of haptens including monoclonal antibody technology.
