Eric Kohli is a registered patent attorney with more than 20 years of experience in intellectual property law. Eric's practice has focused on advising a wide variety of clients, including Fortune 100 and 500 companies, through patent and trademark development, prosecution, enforcement, business agreements, IP licensing, and IP litigation.

Eric's patent practice includes technologies in the mechanical, electrical, electronics, software, business methods, mobile apps, automotive, culinary, apparel, and medical arts. He has developed and prosecuted patent applications for universities, foreign and domestic corporations, medical professionals, automotive technologists, retail ventures, startups, restaurants, and the like. His ability to think outside the box and craft innovative solutions has led him to achieve quick allowances for patent applications, including overcoming final rejections after failed prosecution by prior counsel.

Eric also has considerable experience registering and prosecuting trademarks before the USPTO and international trademark offices, as well as enforcing trademarks around the world. Further, he is an accomplished litigator who has handled patent and trademark infringement matters for several high profile companies.

Representative Matters

  • Patented a diverse range of technologies for a Fortune 100 client that were used in several of the client’s commercially successful products.
  • Litigated a nine-figure patent-infringement suit defending the client’s well-known, successful appliance. Aggressive defense resulted in a favorable settlement.
  • Achieved allowance for a patent application covering the client’s valuable business method without narrowing the claims after attempted prosecution by previous patent attorneys.
  • Contributed significantly to a Fortune 100 client’s defense of a nine-figure patent-infringement lawsuit brought by a Fortune 100 competitor.
