Heather Stanton is an associate in the firm’s Litigation group. Her growing practice covers a range of matters, from handling business torts, insurance, restrictive covenants, real estate litigation matters, construction & complex litigation cases, trade secrets, contract disputes, and addressing a variety of other commercial litigation matters. Heather has represented both institutional and individual clients in jury and bench trials where her strategy and transparent approach were a winning combination.

Prior to joining the firm, Heather served as a law clerk for the Honorable Donn Kessler at the Arizona Court of Appeals. While in law school, Heather served as an extern at the Arizona Court of Appeals, the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona, and the Arizona U.S. Attorney’s Office. She was a teaching assistant for courses in Constitutional Law, Legal Method and Writing, Intellectual Property, Business Organizations, and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Heather is valued by clients and colleagues for her keen ability to analyze and proactively address complex matters. She is a focused and passionate advocate and feels a sense of personal achievement when aggressively defending clients’ rights both in and out of court and realizing the right result on their behalf.

Before entering law school, Heather was an insurance agent and spent eighteen months in Germany as a research assistant for historians at Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg im Breisgau and the University of Regensburg.

In her free time, Heather enjoys reading. Her favorite genre is science fiction.

Representative Matters

  • Obtained judgment for client and a $119,000 fee award after a two-day jury trial in a real estate matter.

  • Defeated two cases against insurance company client and obtained a directed verdict on all counterclaims, including a fee award and permanent injunction.

  • Represented a homeowners association that prevailed in a lawsuit against three homeowners renting their houses as short-term vacation rentals, in breach of the CC&Rs.

  • Obtained summary judgment for a big box store client by establishing statutory immunity from suit.

  • Represented a retail store sued by its landlord for terminating its lease agreement, successfully moving for judgment on the pleadings and for attorneys’ fees.

  • Resolved multiple cases for institutional clients via settlement negotiations, often well below settlement authority.

  • Defended a big box store in a negligence lawsuit and obtained a judgment for client.

  • Represented a pro bono client in removal proceedings, in which client was granted asylum.

  • Briefed an immigration appeal before the Ninth Circuit, representing a survivor of FGM and abuse.

  • Obtained several favorable pre-trial rulings concerning admissibility of evidence after oral argument.

  • Negotiated a $32,000 settlement for automobile credit company defrauded by an auto dealer.
