Lewis Roca Lawyers Named to Partner in 2021

PHOENIX (January 14, 2021) – Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP has selected four attorneys to join the firm’s partnership effective as of January 1, 2021.

David Jackson, Intellectual Property, Phoenix

Jackson provides a full spectrum of intellectual property services and works closely with clients to help them develop comprehensive, global brand strategies. Clients value his creativity, strategic judgment, and ability to understand their business needs to help them best achieve their goals. He works with a wide range of clients in various industries including a Fortune 500 global technology solutions provider, a global billion-dollar tool manufacturer, and an internationally recognized research university. David manages complex global trademark portfolios for clients and also advises them on trademark selection, clearance and prosecution, trademark protection and enforcement including litigation, intellectual property agreements and transactions, and online intellectual property issues.

David is an honoree of the Phoenix Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40, class of 2020, which recognizes young professionals and business leaders in Arizona. He was also recognized by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona as Big Brother of the Year in 2019 for his dedicated mentoring service.

He received his J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, High Pro Bono Distinction, from Arizona State University – Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law and his B.A. from Emory University.

Abazar “Arya” Mireshghi, Intellectual Property, Los Angeles

Mireshghi is a member of Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie’s Intellectual Property practice group. He utilizes his knowledge of electrical engineering and computer science to counsel clients regarding patent litigation and prosecution in the areas of digital and analog circuits, semiconductors, mobile electronic devices, wireless communication systems, optical communications and switching systems, data storage devices, electric motors, chargers and battery systems, electro-mechanical devices in the transportation industry, MEMS devices, cryptography, artificial intelligence and software systems.

Before attending law school, Abazar was an Application Engineer in the power IC division of Vishay Siliconix and a Test Systems Development Engineer at Maxim Integrated Products. He also worked as a graduate research intern at Intel Corporation where he focused on the seamless integration of optical communication links in current copper-laden electronic systems.

He received his J.D. from George Washington University Law School, his M.S. from the University of California, Los Angeles and his B.S., summa cum laude, from San Jose State University.

Abraham Smith, Litigation, Las Vegas

As a member of the firm’s Litigation practice group and appellate team, Smith represents a broad range of clients in all kinds of civil litigation and appeals. At the trial level, he has protected clients against multimillion-dollar judgments and reinstated a client’s verdict for over $50 million. Abe has also briefed scores of appeals and argued before the Nevada Court of Appeals and Nevada Supreme Court, resulting in several published opinions.

Smith has represented dozens of children and indigent Nevadans in their appeals and received the Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada’s Award of Excellence in 2018. He was named a Mountain States Rising Star in appellate law by Super Lawyers, and was recognized in the inaugural class of “Ones to Watch” in appellate practice by The Best Lawyers in America for 2021. He received his J.D. and his LL.M, magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from Duke University School of Law, and his B.M. with High Distinction, with Honors from Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Amanda Thatcher, Business Transactions, Phoenix

A member of the firm’s Business Transactions practice group, Thatcher represents clients in a variety of business and personal planning matters. Equipped with an MBA and a background in litigation, Amanda offers a full-service approach when advising her clients.

Thatcher regularly advises corporate clients in a variety of matters, including entity formation, financing, governance, mergers and acquisitions, and succession planning.

In her estate planning practice, Thatcher helps her individual clients with their estate and tax planning needs, including identifying which strategies and legal instruments are best-suited to each client’s individual needs and anticipated life situations.

Thatcher has been recognized as a Southwest Super Lawyers Rising Star in the area of area of business/corporate and named by The Best Lawyers in America, “Ones to Watch” for tax law in 2021. She received her J.D., magna cum laude, Order of the Coif, from the University of New Mexico School of Law, her M.B.A. from the University of New Mexico and her B.A., magna cum laude, from California State University, Fullerton.
