PHOENIX (January 15, 2019) – Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP announced five attorneys, Jennifer Van Kirk, Michael McCue, Flavia Campbell, Emily Bayton and Anne Aikman-Scalese have been included in World Trademark Review’s 2019 edition of the WTR 1000, a directory focused exclusively on trademark practices and practitioners, identifying the trademark industry's leading practitioners in 72 jurisdictions around the world.

Jennifer Van Kirk, a partner in the firm’s Phoenix office and a member of the Intellectual Property practice group, advises clients on all aspects of ‎trademark and brand protection, including trademark clearance, prosecution, licensing, portfolio ‎management and litigation guidance. Her experience includes traditional marks as well as 3-‎dimensional marks, motion marks, service trade dress and packaging trade dress. Her ‎international trademark experience includes advising clients on what global registrations to pursue, ‎filing strategies to maximize coverage, what form the mark should take, cost-containment options and ‎which trademarks to secure. She has overseen dozens of cases before foreign tribunals to protect her ‎clients' IP interests.

Michael McCue is a partner in the firm’s Las Vegas office with additional presence in the firm’s Silicon Valley and Los Angeles offices. He is a member of the Intellectual Property practice group providing trademark services from clearance through registration, enforcement and litigation. As both a litigator and trademark prosecution attorney, he has the perspective and knowledge to ensure that his clients’ trademark portfolios are developed, managed and enforced in a manner that maximizes their value and strength in the United States and around the world. He has litigated hundreds of trademark cases in federal courts throughout the United States and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including cases involving some of the most famous trademarks in the world.

With experience as a trademark lawyer in Brazil before joining Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie, Flavia Campbell, a partner in the firm’s Phoenix office and a member of the Intellectual Property practice group, has a unique understanding of trademark proceedings when dealing with foreign correspondents. She also negotiates and drafts license agreements, helps clients with trademark policing efforts and counsels clients on IP validity, infringement and enforcement.

Emily Bayton, a partner in the firm’s Denver office and previously the co-practice group leader of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice group, assists global clients with the building, maintenance and protection of their vital IP resources. She assists clients with trademark selection, clearance, registration and prosecution. She also analyzes her clients’ trademark portfolios to ensure they have appropriate worldwide coverage and recommends strategies for strengthening their brand in the marketplace.

Anne Aikman-Scalese, of counsel in the firm’s Tucson office and a member of the Intellectual Property practice group, assists clients with a wide variety of commercial contracts, worldwide trademark registration strategy and prosecution, copyright protection, IP due diligence and IP licensing transactions. She has experience handling global trademark portfolio management, enforcement and dispute resolution (including TTAB proceedings) for the largest division of a Fortune 500 corporation, a federally-recognized Indian tribe, and a popular resort with casino and entertainment venues. Aikman-Scalese also has in-depth knowledge of new gTLD policy-making processes at ICANN and has served as a trademark expert in federal court proceedings.
