A History of Growth
In early 2009, Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie LLP (formerly Lewis and Roca LLP) made its entry into Silicon Valley in response to the growing need for legal services in the field of intellectual property. Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie’s team in the Silicon Valley office possesses the in-depth legal knowledge required by the region’s fast-moving innovators. From an initial small group of just three attorneys, the firm has rapidly expanded in size to meet the demand from Silicon Valley-based individuals and organizations conducting business in the U.S. and on the complex international playing field.
Our Intellectual Property Practice
Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie advises businesses in all fields of industry and at all stages of development and growth. In addition to handling litigation and transactions involving intellectual property (IP), our attorneys also develop comprehensive intellectual property strategies that proactively address the patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, and/or rights of publicity issues that a business is likely to encounter.
Amid rapid changes in the law, the courts, and agencies such as the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) and International Trade Commission (ITC), our attorneys are well-versed in the current issues affecting individuals and companies doing business in Silicon Valley. Not only will we help you to establish a foundation for innovation and growth, but we will also help to secure your accomplishments against attacks or misappropriations by competitors and non-practicing entities (also known as patent assertion entities or “patent trolls”).
Whether a company is in the initial stages of conceptualizing its name, developing core products/services, or rebranding to renew market recognition, Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie can help. From the conventional trademark filing to the fluid challenges facing companies as they transfer confidential data to the cloud, our attorneys have the knowledge to advise clients on ways to safeguard their IP assets. In addition, Lewis Roca Rothgerber Christie attorneys are also experienced in negotiating celebrity and athletic endorsements, event agreements, and product placement agreements with filmmakers and other media companies.
In addition to having expertise in those issues that are especially pertinent to the Silicon Valley, California, and the United States, our legal team is also well-versed in intellectual property issues at the international level.
